DAY 1 & 2 | MAY 12–13: HONOLULU – HANEDA | JOURNEY TO JAPAN (IN-FLIGHT)
Begin our spring adventure aboard a Japan Airlines flight from Honolulu to Haneda. Upon arrival the following day, transfer to our airport hotel for a restful overnight stay before continuing to Hokkaido.
DAY 3 | MAY 14: HANEDA – CHITOSE – SAPPORO | WELCOME TO HOKKAIDO (B)
After breakfast, board our domestic flight from Haneda to New Chitose Airport. Upon arrival in Hokkaido, meet our Air & Sea Travel representative and transfer to our hotel in Sapporo, the island’s lively capital and gateway to our spring flower journey.
DAY 4 | MAY 15: SAPPORO – TOKACHIGAWA | SAHORO BEAR MOUNTAIN & ONSEN (B, L, D)
Travel across the picturesque Tokachi Plains and begin at Tokachi Nuppuku Garden, where spring flowers welcome the new season. After lunch, continue to Sahoro Bear Mountain to observe Hokkaido brown bears roaming in a natural forest environment. Later, check in to our Tokachigawa onsen hotel, enjoy a buffet dinner, and unwind in the soothing hot-spring waters.
DAY 5 | MAY 16: TOKACHIGAWA | SWEETS, SHEEPDOGS & HOKKAIDO WINE (B, D)
Begin at Ryugetsu Sweetpia Garden, where we will view the confectionery production process and decorate our own cookies. Continue to Aeon Mall Obihiro for shopping and lunch on our own. This afternoon, enjoy an entertaining sheepdog show at Boya Farm, followed by a tour and tasting at Ikeda Wine Castle. Return to our hotel for dinner.
DAY 6 | MAY 17: TOKACHIGAWA – LAKE AKAN – ABASHIRI | AINU CULTURE (B, L, D)
Depart Tokachigawa and journey through eastern Hokkaido to Akan-Mashu National Park. Board a sightseeing cruise across beautiful Lake Akan, renowned for its rare spherical marimo algae. After lunch, visit Ainu Kotan and the Onne Cise Art Museum to discover the traditions of Hokkaido’s Indigenous Ainu people, followed by a hands-on wood-carving experience. Arrive in Abashiri for a special Kaiseki dinner and a relaxing onsen bath.
DAY 7 | MAY 18: ABASHIRI | HIGASHIMOKOTO SHIBAZAKURA PARK (B, D)
Start at the Okhotsk Ryuhyo Museum, where we can see and touch real drift ice. Continue to Higashimokoto Shibazakura Park, where millions of moss phlox blanket the hillsides in brilliant shades of pink, white, purple, and red. Enjoy lunch on our own before visiting picturesque Märchen Hill and the Hokkaido Museum of Northern Peoples. Return to our hotel for dinner.
DAY 8 | MAY 19: ABASHIRI – ASAHIKAWA | KAMIYUBETSU TULIP FAIR (B, D)
Explore Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park, a spectacular 17-acre garden displaying approximately 200 colorful tulip varieties. Continue to Asahikawa and enjoy lunch on our own at Asahikawa Ramen Village. Later, visit the Otokoyama Sake Brewery & Museum to learn about centuries of Japanese sake-making tradition. Enjoy dinner before checking in to our hotel near Asahikawa Station.
DAY 9 | MAY 20: ASAHIKAWA – TAKIKAWA – ASAHIKAWA | CANOLA FIELDS & ASAHIYAMA ZOO (B)
Travel to Takikawa to admire sweeping fields of golden-yellow canola blossoms, known locally as “Nanohana.” Continue to Asahiyama Zoo, celebrated for its cold-climate animals, including polar bears and Amur leopards. Return to Asahikawa and enjoy free time browsing the shops, local specialties, and galleries around Asahikawa Station.
DAY 10 | MAY 21: ASAHIKAWA – SUNAGAWA – SAPPORO | SAPPORO LILAC FESTIVAL (B, D)
Depart Asahikawa and stop at Sunagawa Highway Oasis to browse Hokkaido treats and regional souvenirs. Upon reaching Sapporo, visit the Central Wholesale Market, where lunch will be on our own. Continue to Odori Park for the 69th Sapporo Lilac Festival, surrounded by approximately 400 fragrant lilac trees. Tonight, celebrate with a special Hokkaido Crab Feast before checking in to our hotel.
DAY 11 | MAY 22: SAPPORO | FREE DAY & TANUKI KOJI (B)
Enjoy a full free day to explore, shop, and sample Sapporo’s culinary specialties at your own pace. Visit the historic Tanuki Koji Shopping Arcade, where traditional kimono, tea, and incense merchants stand alongside modern shops and restaurants.
DAY 12 | MAY 23: SAPPORO – CHITOSE – HANEDA – HONOLULU | JOURNEY HOME (B)
Visit Royce’ Cacao & Chocolate Town to discover how the company produces its famous chocolates, including its signature ganache-style Nama Chocolate. In the late afternoon, transfer to New Chitose Airport and board our return flights via Haneda to Honolulu, bringing home wonderful memories of Hokkaido’s spring flowers, culture, cuisine, and onsen retreats.
