After breakfast, we can explore the city on our own.  After a Savory Seafood meal for our lunch, we will enjoy our half day city tour in Singapore.  First, we will proceed to Merlion Park and Old Parliament House.  Then we will visit Gardens By The Bay, One of Singapore’s top attractions is a flora wonderland.  Located next to Marina Bay Sands, this 101-hectare attraction features award-winning conservatories, the iconic Supertrees, and plants that come from temperate and tropical forests.  We will get to spend some time exploring the maze of awning-draped shops and market stalls in Singapore’s Chinatown.  Tonight, we will enjoy our own dinner in Hawker centre, housing many stalls that sell a variety of inexpensive food.

Day 4**Feb 2 | Singapore – Diamond Princess Cruise | (B)
After breakfast, enjoy our morning before we transfer to Port Singapore to embark on the Diamond Princess.  The ship boasts 700 balconies, perfect for capturing incredible landscapes and intriguing city skylines across the globe.  As one of only two Princess Cruise ships built in Japan, it’s not surprising this unique vessel can often be found sailing to the most intriguing vacation destinations abroad.

 Tokyo Post Cruise Tour
Day 16**Feb 14 | Yokohama – Tokyo – Honolulu
Arrive at Osanbashi Passenger Terminal.  After disembarking, we will transfer to Tokyo for the city tour.  First, we will visit the Meiji Shrine (Meiji Jingū), the Shinto shrine dedicated to the deified spirits of Emperor Meiji and his wife, Empress Shōken.  It is located in an evergreen forest that covers an area of 700,000 square meters (about 175 acres).  The forest has 120,000 trees of 365 different species donated by people throughout Japan when the shrine was established.  Many visitors to the forest use it as a recreation and relaxation area in the center of Tokyo.  The Naien is the inner precinct, which is centered on the shrine buildings and includes a treasure museum that houses articles of the Emperor and Empress.  The museum is built in the Azekurazukuri style.  The Gaien is the outer precinct, which includes the Meiji Memorial Picture Gallery that houses a collection of 80 large murals illustrative of the events in the lives of the Emperor and his consort.  It also includes a variety of sports facilities, including the National Stadium (Meiji Jingu Gaien Stadium and later, since 1956, on the same site Tokyo Olympic Stadium), and the Meiji Memorial Hall (originally used for governmental meetings, including discussions surrounding the drafting of the Meiji Constitution in the late 19th century).  Today it is used for Shinto weddings.  After that, we will process to Senso-ji (,Kinryū-zan Sensō-ji) is an ancient Buddhist temple located in Asakusa.  It is Tokyo’s oldest and one of its most significant temples.  The temple is dedicated to the bodhisattva Kannon (Avalokitesvara).  Dominating the entrance to the temple is the Kaminarimon or “Thunder Gate”, a massive paper lantern dramatically painted in vivid red-and-black tones to suggest thunderclouds and lightning.  Beyond the Kaminarimon is Nakamise-dori with its shops, followed by the Hōzōmon or “Treasure House Gate” which provides the entrance to the inner complex.  Within the precincts stand A Stately Five-story Pagoda and the Main Hall, devoted to Kannon Bosatsu.  Catering to the visiting crowds, the surrounding area has many traditional shops and eating places that feature traditional dishes (hand-made noodles, sushi, tempura, etc.).  These shops themselves are part of a living tradition of selling things to pilgrims who walked to Senso-ji.  After that, we will transfer to Odaiba and visit the 19-meter tall Gundam RX 0 Statue, one of the most significant comic attractions in Japanese cartoon (manga) industry.  Today Odaiba is a popular shopping and sightseeing destination for local residents and tourists alike.  Enjoy our last minute shopping time here before transferring to Narita International Airport for our return flight to Honolulu, taking with us the lasting memories of this wonderful Southeast Asia and Japan Cruise.
