Day 1** Nov 7 | Honolulu –> Tokyo
We begin our journey by boarding an international flight to Haneda International Airport in Tokyo. Meals and snacks will be served on the plane.
Day 2** Nov 8 | Tokyo
After arriving at Haneda International Airport, we will meet with an Air and Sea Travel representative who will escort us to our hotel in Tokyo.
Day 3**Nov 9 | Tokyo Niigata | (B, D)
After Breakfast, we will transfer to Tokyo Train Station to ride the Shinkansen Bullet Train to Niigata Station. The City of Niigata faces the Japan Sea on the island of Honshu, the largest of the four islands that comprise Japan. Upon arrival, we will transfer to Niigata Furusato Village. There are shops selling Niigata specialties, restaurants serving local cuisine, a Niigata sightseeing information corner and a corner providing Niigata historical and cultural information to visitors. We can enjoy our own lunch here. After that, we will visit Northern Cultural Museum, originally a mansion of Ito Bunkichi (1603-1868), one of the greatest landowners in Japan during the Edo Period. Nowadays, the museum houses calligraphy and ceramics, lacquer ware and documents related to the Ito family’s history. We can also visit the “walking” garden which has a big pond. Niigata is Japan’s number one rice and sake production area fostered in a large granary. Niigata boasts more sake breweries than any other prefecture in Japan. Imayo Tsukasa Sake Brewery, the brewery nearest Niigata Station, is the gateway to Niigata sake. We will have an informational tour and enjoy sake tasting. Tonight, we will have a special welcome dinner with entertainment by an authentic Geisha. Let’s enjoy some fun during dinner. We will transfer to our hotel after dinner.
Day 4** Nov 10 | Niigata | (B)
This morning, let’s enjoy some seasonal fruit. Shirone Grape Garden organically grows many types of high quality fruit. We will pick and taste grapes. Next, we will stop at Teradomari Fish Market to see reasonably priced quality fresh fish from Teradomari Bay and Izumozaki Bay. We can enjoy our own lunch here by choosing their famous “hamayaki” (fresh seafood grilled on the beach), crab dishes and “kaisen don” (fresh raw fish on rice). Then, we will visit Yahiko Shrine in Yahiko Village, a power spot for love and good fortune. Many people from all over the country flock to this Shinto shrine, hoping to get their wishes granted. Then, we will take the Yahiko Ropeway to enjoy the beautiful view of the city. Bandai City is a commercial district in Niigata City. It is located north-west of Niigata Station, and faces the Shinano River. It is a popular shopping area of Niigata City, with commercial building complexes, department stores and restaurants. We can do some shopping for the rest of day and enjoy our own dinner here. Then, we can return to our hotel anytime on our own, which is nearby to the shopping city.
Day 5** Nov 11 | Niigata Sado Island | (B, L, D)
Before we transfer to Sado Island, we will stop at Senbei Okoku to make senbei (rice crackers). Then, we will take a Jetfoil to Sado Island, the 6th largest island in Japan off the coast of Niigata Prefecture. Upon arrival, we will enjoy Japanese Amberjack Fish Don for lunch. Sado Kinzan (Gold Mine) was the most productive mine in Japan, annually producing nearly 400 kg of gold as well as smaller amounts of silver and copper. Today, they are open to the public with a gold museum showing displays and models about its operation. After that, we will check into our onsen hotel and enjoy a Crab Kaiseki dinner with Demon Drums performance.
Day 6** Nov 12 | Sado Island | (B, L, D)
After breakfast, we will experience a Tarai Bune Boat Ride (tub-turned boat) on a traditional Japanese fishing boat found mainly on Sado Island and used for catching abalone and other mollusks. Afterward, we will experience panning for gold. We will visit Sado History Museum to learn the cultural history of Sado Island, viewing intriguing displays with animatronic puppets that reenact historical events and local legends. After lunch, we will visit Daizen Shrine, a shrine with a stately Noh stage, remembered in connection with Suketomo Hino. Return to the hotel and enjoy our dinner.
Day 7** Nov 13 | Sado Island Niigata – Nagano | (B, L, D)
This morning, we will take Jetfoil back to Niigata. After arriving at Niigata, we will transfer to Nagano with a stop at the TsubameSanjo Regional Industries Promotion Center for shopping and Knife Sharpening Lessons. Tsubamesanjo is nationally famous as a production area of cutlery. Today, we will have an opportunity to learn how to maintain knives on a daily basis and to deepen our knowledge of the Japanese cutlery. We will continue to Nagano after lunch. Upon arrival, we will transfer to our hotel in Nagano. We will enjoy our dinner at the hotel tonight.
Day 8** Nov 14 | Nagano | (B, D)
After breakfast, we will have a full day tour in Nagano. Jigokudani Monkey Park, offers visitors the unique experience of seeing wild monkeys bathing in a natural hot spring. The park is inhabited by Japanese Macaques, which are also known as Snow Monkeys. After that, we will stop by Obuse, a small town in northern Nagano Prefecture with a pretty town center. We will stroll in the town and enjoy our own lunch here. Nagano’s Zenkoji Temple, is one of the most important and popular temples in Japan. It was founded in the 7th century and stores the first Buddhist statue ever to be brought into Japan when Buddhism was first introduced in the 6th century. After a long day tour, we will enjoy our dinner and return to our hotel.
Day 9** Nov 15 | Nagano – Matsumoto – Tokyo | (B, L, D)
After breakfast, we will transfer to Matsumoto. Matsumoto Castle (Matsumoto-jō), also known as the “Crow Castle” (Karasu-jo) because of its black exterior. Matsumoto Castle, one of Japan’s premier historic castles, is a flatland castle (hirajiro) because it was built on a plain instead of a hilltop or amid rivers. Its defenses included an extensive system of inter-connecting walls, moats and gatehouses. Just across a small bridge on the way to Matsumoto Castle, Nawate Street is a row of small shops with a subtle but recurring frog theme. The banks of the river once echoed with the voices of frogs. We can have some shopping here. Today, we will enjoy special Miso Lunch Set, which is famous in Matsumoto. Then, we will continue our journey to Tokyo, the capital, political, and commercial center of Japan. Upon arrival, we will check into our hotel. Tonight, we will enjoy a Japanese Dinner nearby our hotel.
Day 10** Nov 16 | Tokyo | (B)
After breakfast, enjoy full leisure day to shop around the city and eat whatever looks interesting. You can visit Tokyo’s most famous upscale market shopping, dining and entertainment district – The Ginza, featuring numerous department stores, boutiques, art galleries, restaurants, night clubs and cafes. Or you can enjoy a shopping day at Shinjuku, Tokyo’s most vibrant commercial center, with many alleys, nooks, and crannies. Nearby, Shibuya is a center for fashion and culture, and its streets are the birthplace to many of Japan’s fashion and entertainment trends.
Day 11** Nov 17 | Tokyo –> Honolulu | (B)
After checking out of our hotel at noon, we will visit Rikugien, which is often considered Tokyo’s most beautiful Japanese landscape garden. One of the best times to visit Rikugien is in autumn when the numerous maples trees turn the garden into one of Tokyo’s best autumn color spots. Odaiba and visit the 19-meter tall Gundam RX 0 Statue, one of the most significant comic attractions in Japanese cartoon (manga) industry. Today Odaiba is a popular shopping and sightseeing destination for local residents and tourists alike. Enjoy our own lunch and last minute shopping before we transfer to Haneda International Airport for our return flight to Honolulu, taking with us lasting memories of a magnificent trip to Niigata, Sado Island and Nagano, exploring the northern culture of Japan.

Written notice is required for any cancellation. Within 70 days before departure, the cancellation fee will be as follow:
** 69-31 days prior to departure, 50% of total price plus any other service fee caused from the cancellation;
** 30 days prior to departure or withdrawing during the tour shall be regarded as willingly giving up all rights concerned, 100% of total price, and request for other services as a substitute shall not be accepted.
