Day 1**Dec. 4 | Honolulu –> Incheon
We start our vacation by boarding an international flight to Ho Chi Minh City, (also known by its former name Saigon), the largest city in Vietnam by population, via Incheon. Meals and snacks will be served on the plane.
Day 2**Dec.5 | Incehon –> Ho Chi Minh City
Upon arrival at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, an Air & Sea Travel representative will greet and escort us to our hotel.
Day 3**Dec.6 | Ho Chi Minh City | (B, L, D)
After breakfast, we will have a city tour of the Opera House, Notre Dame Cathedral, the French Colonial Post Office, and Independence Palace. Then, we will visit Cholon, the largest Chinatown in the world by area and inhabited by many Chinese people. We will also spend time at Binh Tay Market, the central market of Chinatown. A Welcome Dinner is arranged after a Water Puppet Show, a unique variation on the ancient Asian puppet tradition.
Day 4**Dec.7 | Day trip to Can Gio | (B, L, D)
Located southeast of Ho Chi Minh City, close to where the Saigon River meets the South China Sea, the low-lying Can Gio island houses a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. This is an important natural wetland with attractions like Monkey Island, Rung Sac Military Base, Vam Sat Salt-Marsh Forest Ecological Tourist Center, and a crocodile farm. Today, we will take a speedboat to the reserve to visit Monkey Island. This island is home to a monkey sanctuary with at least a hundred wild but unafraid simians. Please enjoy the interaction with the wild monkeys. After we return to Ho Chi Minh City, please enjoy some free time before dinner.
Day 5**Dec.8 | Ho Chi Minh City – Can Tho | (B, L, D)
Today, we will transfer to Can Tho, the largest city in the Mekong Delta. As the political, economic, cultural and transportation center of the Mekong Delta, Can Tho is a buzzing town with a lively waterfront lined with sculpted gardens, an appealing blend of narrow backstreets and wide boulevards, and perhaps the greatest concentration of foreigners in the delta. Upon arrival, we will enjoy local culture folk songs before transferring to our hotel. France colonized Vietnam and Cambodia, forming the Indochinese Union in 1887, solidifying French influence in Vietnam for the next 70 years. And, nothing is more evocative of the persistent influence of French culture in Vietnam than in the effects on the cuisine of the country. Tonight, we will enjoy French-Vietnamese cuisine at the hotel.
Day 6**Dec.9 | Can Tho | (B, L, D)
Can Tho is noted for its floating market, rice paper-making village, and picturesque rural canals. First, we will visit the Floating Market, the biggest one in the Mekong Delta. There is a bridge here that serves as a great vantage point for photography. After that, we will visit Fruit Garden, an ideal experience for all visitors. We can relax in the fruit-gardens and enjoy the specialties of the Mekong Delta region. We will learn how to plant trees and harvest crops from the local farmer. At the end, we will have seasonal fruit tasting. After lunch, we will have a chance to explore this city on our own. Tonight, we will enjoy a dinner cruise on the beautiful Mekong Delta.
Day 7**Dec.10|Can Tho – Ho Chi Minh City | (B, L)
After breakfast, we will transfer from Can Tho back to Ho Chi Minh City, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way. We will have lunch upon arrival. After that, we will enjoy our free time in the city.
Day 8**Dec.11 | Ho Chi Minh City | (B, D)
After breakfast, enjoy your day to shop in the city and eat whatever looks interesting. In the late afternoon, we will enjoy a Transitional instrument music show at the local artist house. Dine in the dark?? Of the five senses, sight dominates. Take away sight, and our other senses emerge to interpret the world from another perspective. Smell becomes more subtle. Taste becomes more acute. Hearing becomes more sensitive. Touch becomes more delicate. We will experience a culinary journey through taste, smell, touch and sound. This is not simply dining, but rather a uniquely mind-altering experience where smell, taste, touch and hearing unite to bring you a completely new journey of the senses. Enjoy our dinner in the dark.
Day 9**Dec.12 | Ho Chi Minh City –> Honolulu | (B)
After breakfast, we will transfer to the airport and take a flight back to Honolulu via Incheon, taking home lasting memories of a magnificent vacation with yummy local cuisine in Vietnam.
We wish you a safe journey and have many wonderful memories to share with family and friends! ☺
